Family Corner

A very big welcome to our new Family Corner in the Rathgar Parish Website.

We hope to provide the children with colouring pages, stories, pictures, videos, activities and crafts in this Section of our Website.    We will have details of a youth group in the Diocese for our Teenagers and we will insert news about re-opening of the Church, delivery of Sacraments and about any family  friendly events happening in the Parish.

A letter from Mary Healy.

Mary has taught the First Communion in three schools in the Parish for over 20 years now.   She is also a valued member of our Family Mass Team. She has written a letter to all of the children waiting to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist, both from 2020 and 2021.  We all look forward to the day that we can get together with these children and their families to celebrate their big day.   In the meantime, here is a letter to the children from Mary.

Hello Children

This is Mary reminding you all again how much I miss you, both in the classroom and at our Sunday family mass.  You bring our Church of the Three Patrons to life with your brilliant readings, your jobs and lovely choir and all your smiling faces.

Sunday 14th is Mother’s Day, so don’t forget to let your Mums know how much you love them, maybe make a card with a nice message inside or ask if you can help around the house.

The 17th of March is St Patrick’s Day. The reason we wear shamrocks is because the Irish people found it difficult to understand the Blessed Trinity, ie 3 persons in one God; The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. So he picked a shamrock and said this little plant has just one stem but has three leaves, representing the blessed Trinity.

We still don’t know when Confirmation or 1st Communion will take place but you will be the first to know when we have dates.

I hope that you are all keeping your Lenten promise and remembering to put a smile on the faces of those you love.

It’s wonderful that some of you are back at school and the rest of you will return shortly. School is where you all should be, learning, playing and mixing with your friends. So goodbye for now and be happy and healthy.

Love from

Mary Healy
